Grackler is an instrument conceived and made by Martin Freeman under his brand Mroztronium.
It's a chaotic core made by modulating four cycling function generators in a ring like so:
Each function generator is modulating the frequency of the following one.
By using the End of Cycle outputs of the function generators to ping a filter via an exclusive OR logic, we can start to generate interesting rhythms which depend on the initial rates of the cycling function generators and the depth and polarity of modulation from the previous function generator in the chain.
If we sum all four of the end of cycle outputs, we can use the result as a stepped modulation signal, i.e., a sequence.Â
If we combine these two subpatches and double it, we arrive at the architecture of the Grackler.
