Decided to go with 4ushop.eu for a two-boat Serge system consisting of:
VCO (Yusynth)
Quad Waveshaper (Serge)
Superslopes (Serge DUSG)
Dual VCA (Yusynth)
MixMax (Serge Dual Processor
Smooth/Stepped Generator, Noise, Dual Transient Generator (Serge)
16-stage Programmer
I wanted to get some experience with the older style of building using 'flying wires' to connect the pcbs to the panel components. This is more time consuming, but a little cheaper because there's no i/o pcbs to buy and that cost difference adds up. This method uses metal brackets to mount the pcbs perpendicularly to the panel, facilitating ease of construction but requiring a greater depth (3") than what's possible with a stacked or parallel board construction.
The modules are mounted to Craig Lee's Loudest Warning steel boats. Heavy but confidence-inspiring.
I began with the DUSG, Programmer, and Quad Waveshaper, rotating between them when I was waiting for parts.
Quad Waveshaper internals. Flying wires can look really nice when they're not jam-packed
Three down.
SSG construction underway
DTG wiring commencing
The very tightly-packed DTG/Noise/SSG panel components
I don't think electrolytic capacitors are supposed to explode...
The finished system.
First full system patch was a Grackler.
